Calling all Firemen!

Gaby's buddy, Tripp, had his 4th bday party this weekend.

It was at the Fire Station. Very cool! The kids got to climb in the truck, spray the hose, and learn all about fire safety.

The firemen even extended and climbed the very tall ladder...

Then there was lunch at the County Line- yum!

Our little Fire Chief...

The weather was perfect and we had a great time!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Today, is my sweet husband's 36th birthday! After school, Gaby made him a yummy bday cake...
You've always got to taste test your creation...
YUM!
And then she made him a beautiful card!
(Please note that Gaby wrote the letters all by herself!! I only had to help w/the "B's". And the "Y's" look like "T's" but that is pretty darn good, don't you think???)
This is a portrait of her daddy- precious!!!!
After the big "blizzard" we braved the snowy streets to take Byron to his fave restaurant, Pappadeaux, for a quiet bday dinner. And then home for a little cake!!!Byron said it was one of his best birthdays b/c he got to spend it with his two favorite girls. :)

The Blizzard of 2010

Of course, I'm totally exaggerating when I say it's a blizzard.

But my word, there is honest to goodness snow falling
in Austin, TX in February!!!

This year we've already had two other snow "events", but they both lasted a few minutes and nothing stuck.

This is something else. Check it out...

Gaby thought the snow was cool, but only for a few minutes. Then she said "Mommy, it's cold and wet! Let's go inside."

That's my daughter :)

Extra Special Visitors

We had extra special visitors this weekend. Marcie was coming in town for a party and Lulu & Carlos tagged along to visit us. Yea!!! With Byron on call, I always welcome a little distraction :)We had such a great weekend! Saturday was a fun-filled day w/lunch at this awesome burger place that has a great playscape (Phil's IceHouse) and happens to be attached to Amy's IceCream.
Then we hit Dart Bowl for a little bowling...
This was Gaby's first time and she not only loved it... ...she beat both me and Lulu at both games! Sunday was absolutely gorgeous!!! It has been so cold and wet this winter, it was a total necessity to get outside on Sunday and enjoy the warmth. So after lunch at Rudy's (the kid's fave) we headed to the Capital...
And then to Zilker Park to fly some kites... We always have so much fun with Lulu & Carlos (and Marcie too!) and were trying to convince them to come back for Spring Break. We'll keep our fingers crossed :)

3rd Year Well Check

We went to the doctor this morning for Gaby's big girl well check.

Now, my daughter has never really embarressed me in public before, soooo I guess there is always a first time for everything! WOW! Did she throw a fit! A full on temper tantrum. And it was over the silliest thing....

Today was a rainy day, so Gaby had on her new Hello Kitty rainboots which she loves b/c they are just like her cousin Mia's. Of course, the first thing they have you do when you walk in is to get a weight and height measurement. Well, in order to do that one must take off one's shoes! As you can imagine, Gaby was not one bit interested in taking off her precious boots. So the fight began. And as is not at all usual, no amount of reasoning, followed by threatening, followed by bribing would convince her to take the darn boots off. By this point, I'm starting to get hot and flustered and completely embarressed. We basically had to get the weight by sitting her on the baby scale and her height after many minutes of debating, coercing and finally the promise of ice cream.

So then we get to sit in the little room to wait for the doctor and she starts getting all cutesy with me. Looking up at me with those big brown eyes, saying that I'm her best friend, and telling me she's happy now. Little stinker. By the time Dr. Ruiz comes in she's as sweet and as cooperative as can be. Oh well, I guess we all have our moments.

She ended up having to get the flu shot today so needless to say the trip ended with another screaming, crying fit but all in all she did pretty well and did get some ice cream as her prize. Dr. Ruiz said that at the 4 yr visit she'll end up getting 5 shots! Yikes! At least I have a whole year to prepare for that!

Her stats:
Weight 34 lbs (75%)
Height 38 in (50-75%)

Our Best New Artist

Last night was the Grammys and we had such a fun time watching it. We let Gaby stay up a little late because many of her favorite people were preforming. I wanted to write this down to see if these artists are still around when Gaby is in her teens and 20s.

Her all time favorite at this moment is Lady Gaga.
Santa gave me the CD for Christmas in my stocking and we've been jamming to it ever since. Even though she is a little freaky, it really is a great album. All the songs are up tempo and have such great beats. And Gaby loves singing along to them. It's just too cute! If there was only a video camera on us as we sang our hearts out in the car. It would be pretty darn funny :)

Gaby's other current faves are Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas & Madonna.

Watching the Grammy show was so cool for Gaby b/c she could actually see the songs she likes being preformed live. Byron and I had a blast singing and dancing with her too :)
