We've been hearing this for a little while now. I think she must have picked it up at school. It is such an amazing thing to hear from your own kid- "Mommy, you're my best friend!". I love it! It melts my heart.
But on the contrary Byron gets "You're not my best friend, Daddy!". Uggggg. I'm sure that feels like a daggar to the heart everytime. But what we've come to realize is that only girls can be Gaby's best friend and not boys.
Which I can't figure out if that's a good thing or not. But it definitly shows how early the distinction between boys and girls begins.
Now trying to explain the concept that even though Daddy is a boy he can still be her best friend b/c he's her Daddy has been hard to get through to her. Sometimes she'll agree, most times not so much. I wish she could be a little more flexible in her rules.
In any case, I'll take it everytime I hear it because I'm pretty sure that if you ask her when she's a teenager if Mom's her best friend she would say something like- "Whatever, Mom". *sigh*
